Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Department: Emergency Services
Shift: 3x12s | Nights + EOW
Job Summary:
Seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. As an integral part of our Level I Trauma Center, you will be responsible for delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. You will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process in the direct care of patients.
- Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate all aspects of nursing care for assigned patients.
- Supervise and support LPNs, RNs on permit, nursing attendants, and other support staff.
- Assess patient and family care needs and develop comprehensive care plans, including discharge and teaching needs.
- Provide and oversee direct care based on individual assessments and medical regimens.
- Continuously evaluate patient response to care and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure timely intervention.
- Participate in quality improvement (QI) initiatives and serve as a resource to student nurses and new staff.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, and team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center
Certifications (Required):
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- AHA Stroke Certification
Clinical Competence:
- Proficient in ventilator/tracheostomy care, gastrostomy tubes, and medication titration
- Comfortable utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board Certification in Emergency Nursing (or in progress)
