Lead Teacher 04 Certified/Kindergarten Teacher

$55,000-$60,000 + $2000 sign on Bonus

Job Summary

Under the Center leadership team, supervises classroom teacher(s), models and implements the requirements for state preschool for all contracts. The Type 04 Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational experiences for children ages birth to five, in alignment with state standards, Head Start/Early Head Start requirements (if applicable), and evidence-based early childhood practices. The teacher fosters a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of all children.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes Positive relationships with children and adults

  • Leads their classrooms to ensure that they meet all of the state preschool for all requirements

  • Utilizes varied and positive approaches to help children problem solve

  • Understands and carries out the Primary Care giving relationship with children and families

  • Utilizes regular team meetings and reflective supervision along with professional development plans to increase and help supervisee’s professionalism and personal goals.

  • Conducts performance reviews that will help staff foster professional growth

  • Works with team to analyze student’s progress through observations and the Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment tool.

  • Utilizes GOLD Assessment reports to monitor the child’s growth overtime and to make adjustments where necessary for continued development of students

  • Models professionalism by following OHU policies and procedures and the NAEYC code of conduct

  • Utilizes tools such as the Environmental Rating Scale and the OHU Curb Appeal checklist along with the OHU Health and Safety checklist regularly to ensure the environment is arranged in well–defined learning centers, clearly labeled, clutter free and reflects the interests of the children in the classroom.

  • Understands and works with the program to meet the following standards:

    • Licensing Standards

    • NAEYC Standards

    • ExceleRate Illinois Standards

    • Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards

  • Assists teacher in organization of time and resources to ensure that all materials are available and ready to ensure appropriate implementation of the curriculum/lesson plan

  • Responsible for the completion of children’s GOLD observations and check points for assigned children to them within the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system.

  • Support children's learning by consistently engaging with them (individually and in groups) by asking open-ended questions and interacting in positive and meaningful/appropriate ways to help facilitate learning.

  • Pursues and achieves applicable Gateways credential or completes required ECE level I training.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

ELCD – Exempt – 100 – revised 2024

Qualifications

Education: BA/BS with 04 certification, ESL/PEL endorsement

Highly preferred

Experience: 3 years in an early childhood setting preferred

Required Skills

  4. Basic computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment

  8. Ability to work independently as well as part of a professional team and effectively support staff

Physical Demands & Work Environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The job requires standing for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, and running. The employee must be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, and speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety. The position requires visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges, with correction if need; and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer and office equipment, including, but not limited to, the telephone, computer, and copier. The employee is occasionally required to lift items up to 50 pounds and regularly lifts 10 to 15 pounds.

The employee works in a child development center with noise levels that range from moderate to high. Duties are performed inside with climate control and outdoors with varied weather conditions (depending on season). This position performs tasks that involve possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood, body fluids or tissues.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
