The Department of Pediatrics at our organization is on the lookout for a skilled Pediatric Pulmonologist to take on the role of Division Chief of Pediatric Pulmonology. This position offers a chance to lead a dynamic and expanding division within a top-tier academic health system in the region. Applicants should be fellowship-trained and board-certified in pediatric pulmonology, with a proven track record in leadership roles encompassing clinical care, education, and research.
About the Division and Facility:
- Comprises 2 Pediatric Pulmonologists
- Includes 3 Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
- Delivers both inpatient and outpatient consultative services across a 25-county area, covering Upstate New York, Western Massachusetts, and Western Vermont
- Hosts multidisciplinary clinics focusing on neuromuscular diseases, aerodigestive disorders, and a monthly BPD Clinic for NICU graduates
- Home to the region’s sole accredited Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Center, recognized nationally for its quality improvement and community involvement
- Features a complete Pulmonary Function Laboratory
- Offers office-based flexible laryngoscopy
- Conducts flexible bronchoscopy with anesthesia
The CF Center Provides:
- A comprehensive multidisciplinary care team, including pharmacists, dietitians, child-life specialists, mental health coordinators, case managers, respiratory therapists, nurse coordinators, NPs, and physicians
- Strong community and philanthropic backing from the Donna Crandall Foundation, which offers groceries and financial support for families affected by CF
About the Role:
The Division Chief will be responsible for:
- Leading all clinical, academic, and administrative operations within the division
- Overseeing quality, safety, and growth initiatives in pediatric pulmonology and the CF Center
- Mentoring faculty, fellows, and learners across the training programs at our organization
- Encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues in critical care, neonatology, hospital medicine, and other pediatric subspecialties
- Contributing to the educational and research objectives of the department
The Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital operates within a larger academic health system and is the only children’s hospital serving 25 counties in upstate New York, as well as families in southwest Vermont and Western Massachusetts. The facility includes a 60-bed NICU, a 19-bed PICU, an 18-room Pediatric ED, and over 140 physicians and providers dedicated to patient care. Faculty and staff have the opportunity to collaborate in diverse, interdisciplinary teams and educate learners at all levels.
