Job Description

FloWorks is a leading, privately held specialty industrial supplier of flow control products, as well as a provider of technical solutions to the industrial and high purity end markets. Headquarters in Houston, Texas, Floworks is dedicated to delivering exceptional products, expertise, and service to its customers.

Job Information:

The Vice President of Procurement plays a critical leadership role in driving enterprise‑wide improvements across procurement, inventory management, and supplier performance. This role is responsible for identifying and executing large‑scale, high‑impact opportunities that improve service levels, working capital efficiency, and profitability.

Reporting to the CEO, this leader will partner closely with Operations, Sales, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align supply chain strategy with customer demand and business objectives. The ideal candidate understands the realities of industrial distribution — lead times, backorders, fill rates, vendor reliability, and margin discipline and knows how to drive change without disrupting the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a resilient and scalable organization that supports organic growth, acquisitions, and geographic expansion while maintaining consistent service levels and operational discipline
  • Lead supplier strategy at the executive level, building long‑term, strategic partnerships with key manufacturers while reducing supplier risk, improving reliability, and strengthening negotiating leverage.
  • Drive standardization and simplification across procurement, inventory, and logistics processes to reduce complexity, improve data integrity, and enable consistent execution across locations.
  • Monitor vendor performance metrics, including delivery reliability, order management, and quality
  • Translate customer demand signals into actionable supply plans, partnering with Sales and Operations to ensure forecast alignment reflects real market conditions, project timing, and customer priorities.
  • Lead change management efforts to standardize processes, improve data integrity, and unify practices across the organization.
  • Champion digital enablement and analytics, leveraging ERP and supporting technologies to improve visibility, decision‑making, automation, and scalability of supply chain operations.
  • Maintain regular executive‑level engagement with key manufacturers, mills, and strategic suppliers to ensure priority positioning, allocation support, and transparency during constrained markets.
  • Lead supplier escalation and resolution efforts when service, quality, or delivery issues arise.

Qualifications:

  • Valve industry background is strongly preferred, including experience with pipe, fittings, flanges, or flow‑control products.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in supply chain, procurement, or operations within industrial distribution or manufacturing.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and P&L ownership.
  • Established relationships within the industrial supply chain, including manufacturers, distributors, and logistics partners across the valve and flow‑control markets.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence and partner across functions.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment with flexibility for hybrid work. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used. Occasional visits to warehouses or operational sites may be required and 50% travel is required.

Physical Demands

This role may require standing, walking, sitting, and frequent use of hands and fingers. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required. This role may involve exposure to warehouse environments, moving mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels during site visits.
