Job Title: Plating Technician
Job Description
The Plating Technician performs hands-on production plating work using specialized equipment and solutions in accordance with established processes. This role supports accurate quoting, resolves customer technical questions, and designs tooling and fixtures to ensure efficient and effective plating operations. The technician maintains equipment and work areas, follows all policies and procedures, and occasionally travels to meet customer delivery expectations while working closely with a small, collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Perform plating work using appropriate equipment and solutions as defined by the SIFCO Process.
- Follow all specifications and requirements outlined in customer purchase orders to ensure quality and compliance.
- Assist the Contract Service Manager in preparing accurate cost estimates for the quoting process.
- Collaborate with Inside Sales to help resolve customer technical questions and concerns.
- Design and fabricate tooling and fixtures to support efficient and effective plating operations.
- Maintain plating equipment in proper working order and identify items that require maintenance or repair.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe to support a productive work environment.
- Follow all company policies, department procedures, and job-specific work instructions consistently.
- Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with customer representatives during interactions.
- Travel as needed to customer locations to support on-site work and meet delivery expectations.
- Support general production activities, including assembly, packing, and handling materials as required.
- Use hand tools, soldering tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures to perform daily tasks accurately.
Essential Skills
- Mechanical aptitude and strong mechanical skills.
- Comfort working with hands in a production and plating environment.
- Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
- Experience or comfort using hand tools in a shop or production setting.
- Ability to perform general production tasks, including assembly and packing.
- Comfort working in a warehouse environment and packaging product as needed.
- Ability to work safely around small quantities of chemicals and follow proper handling procedures.
- Willingness to comply with required screenings, including drug screening and checks.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and customer specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with plating processes or related production work.
- Familiarity with the SIFCO Process or similar plating methods.
- Basic soldering skills and experience using soldering tools.
- Experience using hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and other mechanical tools.
- Comfort using measuring tools, including tape measures, for accurate dimensions.
- General production experience, including assembly, packing, and handling materials.
- Ability to design or assist in designing simple tooling and fixtures for production.
- Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and customer representatives.
- Ability to travel occasionally to support customer delivery needs.

Work Environment
This role is based in a small shop environment with a close, collaborative team. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime schedule. You will work in a production and warehouse setting that involves plating operations, general production tasks, assembly, and packaging of products. The work includes regular use of hand tools, soldering tools, and measuring devices such as tape measures, as well as working around small quantities of chemicals in a controlled and safety-focused environment. The setting emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety procedures while maintaining a practical, hands-on atmosphere.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Windsor, CT.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
