Job Description

At Roof Depot, we’re more than a commercial roofing contractor — we’re a team of hardworking professionals who take pride in the quality of our work and earning our customers’ trust through honest work and dependable service. Our culture is built on trust, craftsmanship, and teamwork, where field crews and office staff work side by side to deliver excellence. We know that our success depends on our people — and we’re committed to ensuring every employee feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.

We’re looking for a Human Resources Generalist with a strong background in benefits administration and compliance who shares our dedication to people, precision, and doing things the right way.

What You’ll Do

As our HR Generalist / Benefits Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our employees — whether they’re on the roof or in the office — understand, access, and appreciate the benefits and support available to them. You’ll manage the day-to-day administration of benefit programs, guide new hires through onboarding, and help maintain compliance and consistency across the company.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Administer and maintain employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k) plans.

  • Collaborate with leadership and brokers to design and select healthcare and benefits plans that meet our diverse workforce’s needs, balancing value, quality, and affordability.

  • Lead annual open enrollment and manage employee communications on benefits and wellness programs.

  • Coordinate the new hire process, including pre-employment screenings, offer letters, onboarding paperwork, benefits enrollment, and employee orientation on culture and policies.

  • Manage the annual 401(k) plan audit with external accounting firm to ensure compliance and timely 5500 filings.

  • Oversee employee leave programs (FMLA, short-term disability, other leaves), ensuring legal compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, E-Verify, EEO-1, OSHA, 5500 filings, Compliance Postings) with accurate documentation.

  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims, coordinating between employees, insurers, and supervisors for smooth reporting and return-to-work.

  • Partner with Payroll and Accounting to maintain accurate, compliant, and equitable compensation and benefits billing.

  • Process unemployment claims and coordinate appeal hearings, ensuring timely, accurate responses.

  • Serve as primary contact for benefits questions, providing clear guidance and support to employees.

  • Support broader HR initiatives, including employee engagement, retention, and safety programs.

What You Bring

  • Experience: 3–5 years in HR or Benefits Administration, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or other hands-on, multi-site environments.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of benefits compliance and familiarity with HRIS/payroll systems (e.g., ADP, or similar).

  • Certification: SHRM or HRCI certification is highly preferred.

  • Skills: Excellent attention to detail, strong communication with both field and office employees, and the ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism.

  • Personality: Empathetic, organized, collaborative, and a problem-solver.

Here's What We Offer

✅ Competitive pay and performance-based bonuses
✅ Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
✅ 401(k) with 3.5% company match
✅ Paid time off and holidays
✅ Opportunities for training, growth, and advancement
✅ A supportive culture where hard work and people come first
