Private endocrinology practice in Daytona Beach, established 1999, is looking for a full-time 40 hours per week Nurse Practitioner. The position requires to perform physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and under instructions of Physician. Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits incl. 401K. Professional liability insurance paid. Requires completion of accredited Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) program. Active state nursing license required. Experience working at a specialty medical clinic or hospital environment is desirable. Experience in endocrine and metabolic disease management preferred.
Duties consist of performing diagnostic procedures to assist physician in diagnosing medical problems and prescribing necessary treatment and services for patient care; record the normal and abnormal data for review by the physician. Take patient histories, conduct physical examinations; write progress notes; prepare patient workups and summaries noting pertinent positive and negative findings; obtain psychosocial history relevant to patient care, and assume responsibility for developing therapeutic relationships with patients.
Order laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Carry out diagnostic procedures such 7-day glucose monitoring or in-house glucose testing by finger stick, injection of physician-designated dosage of insulin preparation for cases of extreme hyperglycemia, and hypoglycemic control through graduated dosage of glucose agents.
Monitor therapeutic progress, report to supervising physician, and maintain record, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria. Provide patient education on usage of sliding scale and other diabetic requirements for the management of the disease. Other Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) duties as assigned.
