Job Title: Lathe Machinist
Job Description
Perform machining duties on CNC lathes and manual lathes by setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment. This role is vital for ensuring high-quality production of precision parts, meeting both customer and company standards while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor lathes to machine precision large components.
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts, ensuring correct fixture and tooling.
- Perform machine offsets, tool changes, and program edits as required, primarily using conversational programming on brands like Mazak, Fagor, and HAAS CNC.
- Interpret and follow engineering blueprints, GD&T specifications, and work instructions.
- Verify part dimensions using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain productivity and quality.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and report machine malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate production and quality records.
- Adhere to all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Essential Skills
- 5-10 years of CNC lathe operation experience, preferably with CNC live tooling or similar large-capacity lathes.
- Job shop experience is a must.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming using Fanuc or similar control systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T.
- Experience with large part handling and overhead crane operation preferred.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as analog and digital micrometers, calipers, and other precision equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a job shop/machine shop environment.
- Proficiency in conversational programming.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a job shop/machine shop setting with approximately 35 employees, including machinists, welders, and office staff. Regular working hours are from 6 AM to 2:30 PM, with current operations running from 5 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Optional Saturdays are available from 6 AM to 12 PM, totaling 50-56 hours per week. Employees are provided with 12 uniforms to ensure a clean uniform every day.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $58240.00 - $68640.00/yr.
