The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in supporting the medical and clinical team in delivering compassionate, trauma-informed care to individuals undergoing treatment for substance use disorders in a residential setting. The MA assists with clinical tasks, monitors patient health, supports medication administration, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for recovery.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with intake assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and documentation.
  • Support providers during medical evaluations and procedures.
  • Monitor and document patient health status and report changes to clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records (EMR).
  • Provide health education and support to residents regarding medication adherence and wellness.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic first aid as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other regulatory standards.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and ensure cleanliness of clinical areas.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current MA certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or addiction treatment setting preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and harm reduction principles is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Residential treatment facility with 24/7 operations.
  • May require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Exposure to individuals in various stages of recovery and withdrawal.
