Responsibilities Include:
- Sets up and stocks food items and other necessary supplies.
- Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
- Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
- Perform portion control and minimize waste to keep cost within forecasted range
- Comply with applicable sanitary, health, and personal hygiene regulations per Virginia Department of Health, James City County, and other agencies
- Maintain a clean work station area, including kitchen equipment, tables, and shelves
- Ensure quality and freshness of ingredients and products
- Perform additional tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; culinary degree preferred
- 1-3 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort
- Understanding of cooking methods and procedures, and knife handling skills
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Must be organized and self-motivated
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, stretch, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
