Immediate opening for a CDL A Driver for Heavy Equipment Hauling to and from residential and commercial land clearing jobs. In this position you will be responsible for safely loading and operating a truck with a capacity of up to 160,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) - cargo includes overweight/oversized loads of equipment like excavators, dump trucks, dozers and other various forestry equipment, and/or land debris in various trailer types (dump, walking floor, etc).


Position returns home each night. We primarily work in Oakland and the surrounding counties but you must be willing to travel up to 2 hours around Novi, MI. We handle both large and small scale clearing so you may be hauling to different sites everyday or be at one site for up to 2 months. We work outdoors and working hours are limited by daylight, weather, and municipal guidelines. You may be required to work as early as 6am and as late as 8pm Monday through Saturday.


Requirements:

  • At least 2 years’ experience heavy hauling with enough equipment experience to load/unload
  • CDL-A and proof that you can safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck
  • Understanding of heavy equipment safety protocols, if equipment is not running properly and daily and preventative maintenance
  • Ability to accurately follow directions and ask questions for clarity if needed
  • Must work efficiently and have common sense
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision and without damage to equipment and property.
  • Must be able to pass background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
  • Ability to work in all types of environments, weather conditions and all seasons


Responsibilities:

  • Load and unload equipment safely - Must be able to operate multiple types of heavy equipment, load/unload on trailers with proper use of appropriate chains and binders.
  • Evaluating equipment integrity prior to loading - is it working properly? Are fluids filled?
  • Shoveling out and/or cleaning tracks before loading on sites, if necessary
  • Properly tracking and documenting mileage when required
  • Reporting any issues or incidents - Completing required forms via an app
  • Inspecting truck before and after trip and completing required forms via an app
