Knox College is looking for a Lead Carpenter!
Monday through Friday Day shift
Summary: Under the general direction of the Manager of Campus Operations & Maintenance, the Lead Carpenter will assist in a variety of tasks connected with the maintenance, construction, and repair of campus buildings. The Lead Carpenter is responsible for all carpentry work at the college, pertaining to both buildings and grounds. This includes repair of equipment and furniture, occasionally remodeling of spaces, which would include wall and ceiling transformation, monitoring roof conditions, locksmith work, etc. Duties may also include cabinet making, shelving, and assisting other trades as needed.
*After hours & emergency call-ins are a possibility, due to the nature of this business
- Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous journeyman carpenter experience preferred.
Supervisory experience helpful.
Ability to develop and maintain professional work relationships.
Able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
Knowledge of locksmithing and key systems.
- Minimum Experience Required:
Trade school or apprenticeship training with 4-5 yrs of carpentry experience preferred
- Additional Responsibilities:
Responsible for the organization and function of the carpenter trade and the management of assigned projects.
Maintain suitable standards of performance for personnel in the carpenter trade.
Responsible for maintenance of building features pertaining to the carpenter trade, furniture, and equipment in buildings and on the grounds, care and operation of the shop equipment, tools, and vehicles.
Ensure execution of assigned work safely and efficiently.
Keep the Director of Maintenance informed of the status of work in progress, grievances, and morale of staff in this section.
Maintains good working relationships with the Director and other members of the department staff.
Performs locksmith and key control duties of the college.
Trains other staff members as needed in the proper and safe method of doing the job.
Handles other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the college.
Summary Pay Range: Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that pay is only one component of total compensation.
