Job Summary:
The Independent Contractor Community-Based Doula provides culturally competent, compassionate, and comprehensive support to expectant and postpartum families through direct doula services and community outreach initiatives. This role involves managing a caseload of clients referred by clinics, offering prenatal, labor, and postpartum support, and engaging in community-based outreach to promote maternal health and doula services.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support:

Provide prenatal, labor, and postpartum doula services, including emotional support, educational guidance, and physical assistance.

Conduct initial assessments, create individualized care plans, and facilitate regular client check-ins.

Offer continuous labor support, assist with birth planning, and provide postpartum care.

Ensure culturally appropriate care tailored to the diverse needs of clients.
Case Management:

Manage a caseload of at least 2 clients per month, ensuring timely follow-ups and consistent support.

Coordinate care with clinics and healthcare providers to address client needs and promote continuity of care.

Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational and legal standards.
Administrative Duties:

Schedule and conduct client meetings, including prenatal visits, labor support, and postpartum follow-ups.

Communicate effectively with clients via phone, email, and in-person meetings.

Attend client appointments (virtual or in-person) and provide support during labor and delivery.

Submit timely and detailed reports, including client progress and outreach activities.
Community Outreach:

Actively engage in community events and initiatives to raise awareness about maternal health and the organization's services.

Collaborate with community partners to enhance service delivery and build relationships with key stakeholders.
Qualifications:

Training/Certification as a Doula from a recognized program is required.

At least 1-2 years of experience in community-based doula services or relevant nonprofit work preferred.

Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple clients and maintain meticulous records.

Proficiency in community outreach and engagement strategies.

Cultural competency and language skills (bilingual in [specify language, if needed] preferred).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:

Schedule: Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and on-call hours, to meet client needs.

Travel: Must have reliable transportation for attending client appointments and community events. Mileage reimbursement provided.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, move, and provide physical support to clients during labor. Accommodations available upon request.

Tools and Resources: MAAME will supply the EHR system; Contractor will be required to have a laptop, and care

Insurance: Professional liability insurance is required.
Contractor Expectations:

Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Participate in periodic training and professional development opportunities.

Meet key performance indicators (KPIs), such as birth outcome data, positive client satisfaction scores, timely report submissions, and active community outreach participation.
