Job Title: Technician – Quality

PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

Inspection of product to ensure conformance to engineering specifications. Support Quality processes throughout the organization to ensure product reliability, increase efficiency, and improve customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Ability to perform accurate and thorough inspections of various parts and assemblies

· Communicate non-conformances both written and oral at all levels of the organization

· Ability to define root cause and corrective action for non-conformances

· Organizational skills to perform detailed follow up of Corrective Actions

· Common knowledge of machine tool basics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatics)

· Support other quality functions within Operations such as workmanship, packaging standards, etc

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

· Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision – yet achieve superior results and output

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and symbols including GD&T.

· Ability to communicate technical information both written and oral

· Ability to properly use basic mechanical and electrical inspection and measuring tools

· Ability to perform calibration of hand tools and interpret results

· Knowledge of disciplined problem-solving tools and techniques

· Interpersonal skills – Uniquely driven individual with long term ambitions, results oriented, works effectively with others

2. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

· Associates degree or technical certificate in engineering / quality discipline or equivalent

· Or minimum of three years in quality assurance / inspection role

· Previous experience as machinist / machine builder or assembler preferred

3. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY

· Extended standing for long periods

· Lifting and handling of parts up to and occasionally exceeding 50lbs

· Ability to handle material while operating inspection equipment

4. VISUAL ACUITY, HEARING, SPEAKING

· Good visual acuity, hearing, and speaking ability

5. ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING

· Work Second shift 2pm – 10:30pm

· Most assignments occur at Rochester Hills (clean, well lit, and air-conditioned)

· Contact with oils, greases, and rust preventatives

· Occasional short-notice overtime required

CORE TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

The following training is required to enable job holders to perform the essential functions of the job.
