In this role, there is the opportunity to-
- Check schedules and organize patient flow efficiently.
- Accompany patients to exam or procedure rooms.
- Assist patients with walking, transfers, dressing, specimen collection, and exam preparation.
- Collect patient history and vital signs; perform screenings per provider guidelines.
- Relay provider instructions to patients and families clearly.
- Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, level-one labs, and other clinic procedures per protocol.
- Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information accurately.
- Administer injectable medications and vaccines under physician supervision.
- Answer phone calls and provide accurate information, including patient education as directed.
- Obtain lab and imaging reports, hospital notes, and referral information as needed.
- Complete forms and requisitions; schedule appointments and verify insurance and demographics.
- Prepare and manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed correctly.
- Send and receive medical records in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations.
- Prepare patient rooms and set up instruments according to department protocol.
- Clean exam rooms and equipment between patients and document maintenance tasks.
- Manage supply inventory and restock exam and procedure rooms as needed.
- Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and Department of Health regulations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
- Follow all UPMC policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Prior Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or other relevant healthcare experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
