Job Coach plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in their journey toward employment. The Job Coach assists in the development of employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities that can include job coaching, follow-along support, ongoing job supports, discovery services, self-employment support services, career exploration services, co-worker supports, and/or prevocational/independent living skills activities based on assigned participants goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist assigned program participants in the development, implementation, monitoring, and updating of Person-Centered Plans and/or Individualized Worl Plan (IWP) that include specific goals related to their vocational progress.
- Match persons with disability and jobs
- Provide pre-vocational and independent living skills training activities, as appropriate, for individuals enrolled in discovery services, self-employment support services, career exploration services, co-worker supports, job development, follow-along or ongoing job supports, and/or Day Hab/CDS individuals working on barriers to employment.
- Seek community connections and employment leads throughout the work week.
- Evaluate, monitor, and document program participants’ progress in accordance with funding source regulations and 1Axium’s policies and procedures.
- Complete and submit daily and/or monthly attendance and reports for each participant, as required.
- Actively participate in each program participants ISP meeting and other meetings as scheduled.
- Provide assistance in obtaining employment-related supports (i.e., transportation, assistive technology, reasonable accommodations, as required).
- Remain knowledgeable about local labor market trends, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and other laws and regulations related to vocational rehabilitation and competitive integrated employment.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL/INTELLECUTAL CAPABILITIES:
Experience as a Job Coach is preferred. Must have experience with working with individuals with disabilities. Provide good communication skills and the ability to assist individuals in job performance skills as well as the willingness to perform physical labor as needed. A valid Maryland driver’s license with no more than three points is required, ACRE Certified, Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) certification or acquired within one year of hire; as well as medication certification within three months of hire will be extended as need arises. This position also requires the ability to observe individuals and provide maximum supervision to individuals with disabilities. The ability to communicate, assess and document information effectively is required to perform this job. This position requires the ability to use full vision, hearing, complete range of motion, and the ability to lift at least 25 pounds. This position demands tolerance for varying levels of stress as well as the ability to intervene with individuals as behaviors dictate.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In general, this position requires that the individual work independently in the community. The
CEO provides the bulk of the supervision to this position
QUALIFICATIONS:
- HS Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- ACRE Certified preferred but not required
- CPR and First Aide
- Minimum one (1) year working with individuals with disabilities.
- Sales, marketing, and/or job recruitment/placement experience preferred
