Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Location: Minneapolis, MN 55407
Shift: Night Shift (3 x 12.5-hour shifts | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 3 days/week (37.5 hours)
Duration: 13 weeks
Charting System: Epic / Excellian
Position Summary
A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – ECMO Specialist with strong critical care expertise. The ideal candidate will have hands-on ECMO experience and be confident managing high-acuity patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and manage ECMO systems for critically ill patients
- Deliver advanced respiratory care in adult critical care settings
- Assist with airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation
- Manage and troubleshoot ventilators (BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV)
- Administer respiratory medications and therapies
- Perform arterial punctures and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Support procedures such as bronchoscopy and pulmonary hygiene
- Manage oxygen therapy systems, including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
- Assist with patient transport as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with protocols
- Float within scope of practice as required
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RRT experience
- Minimum 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience (required)
- Experience in adult critical care settings
- Strong ventilator management and airway procedure skills
- Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment
Certifications Required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Active state license (or pending at submission; must be active before start)
Additional Details
- Every other weekend required
- On-call responsibilities as needed
- Occasional rotation to day shifts possible (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Local candidates accepted
- Up to 5 days of requested time off preferred
- Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty
