Job DescriptionJob Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – ECMO Specialist

Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
Location: Minneapolis, MN 55407
Shift: Night Shift (3 x 12.5-hour shifts | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: 3 days/week (37.5 hours)
Duration: 13 weeks
Charting System: Epic / Excellian

Position Summary

A healthcare facility is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – ECMO Specialist with strong critical care expertise. The ideal candidate will have hands-on ECMO experience and be confident managing high-acuity patients in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and manage ECMO systems for critically ill patients
  • Deliver advanced respiratory care in adult critical care settings
  • Assist with airway management procedures, including intubation and extubation
  • Manage and troubleshoot ventilators (BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV)
  • Administer respiratory medications and therapies
  • Perform arterial punctures and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Support procedures such as bronchoscopy and pulmonary hygiene
  • Manage oxygen therapy systems, including high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
  • Assist with patient transport as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with protocols
  • Float within scope of practice as required

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RRT experience
  • Minimum 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience (required)
  • Experience in adult critical care settings
  • Strong ventilator management and airway procedure skills
  • Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment

Certifications Required

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Active state license (or pending at submission; must be active before start)

Additional Details

  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call responsibilities as needed
  • Occasional rotation to day shifts possible (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • Local candidates accepted
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off preferred
  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty
