Smart Electric Company, Inc. is a woman owned electrical contracting firm based in Connelly Springs, North Carolina. We primarily specialize in the water and wastewater industry, providing critical electrical infrastructure for municipal and industrial utility projects. Our other specializations include the medical industry and Generac home standby generators. We serve areas in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia with our main office in Connelly Springs, NC.
The position of Design and Controls Technician is a hybrid office/field position. Most of your time will be spent in the office working with the design team or preparing for controls work. Some of your time will be spent in the field measuring for design or completing terminations/troubleshooting for controls. Both sides of the job are detail orientated and require continuous learning. General work hours are 7am-5pm Monday through Thursday with Friday overtime, if needed. You must be willing to occasionally work/stay out of town, additional pay provided.
Job Tasks:
- Assist in designing and maintaining interconnection sheets, schematics, conduit layouts, and BIM models.
- Work with the controls team to install and implement controls system and instrumentation, as needed.
- Work with the design team to create sheets for manufacturing and installation.
- Aid in troubleshooting and resolving basic system issues, considering both design and practical implementation.
- Verify equipment size and wiring needs through the utilization of submittals.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and safety regulations.
Requested Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or vocational training in Instrumentation, Electronics, CAD Design, or a related field.
- 0-2 years of experience in either instrumentation/controls or design with willingness to learn the other.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD software for designing control systems.
- Basic knowledge of Revit for MEP design.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical documents, drawings, and schematics.
- Entry-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
