Mid Continent Engineering is seeking a Saw Operator to join our team! This is a 2nd Shift- 4 pm to 2:30 am, Monday through Thursday opportunity. Shift premium for 2nd Shift is $2.00, an hour.

Summary:

Supervises employees in the CNC Department, engaging in training, layout, machine operating, set-ups, and programming of CNC Machines. This position also provides managerial oversight of other departments, and needs to proactively keep the VP of Operations, Plant Manager, and other department managers/ leads informed of any issues that may arise or have arisen.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities, including the following:

  • CNC Milling Machine Programming
  • Must be proficient and can-do machine set-ups & operating.
  • Assist with troubleshooting CNC Machines
  • Ability to operate productively and maintain a variety of CNC Milling Machines, in addition, experience with manual machines.
  • Manufacture machine parts per blueprint specification.
  • Ensure machine operators have machine schedules, material, and tools as needed.
  • Production goals per the schedule are met and communicate standard time variances and other job-related issues with supervisor.

Education & Experience:

  • Preferred degree in machine tooling technology in addition to 5+ years of CNC machine & leadership experience.
  • Programming software experience: Mastercam and Surf Cam preferred.
  • Ability to interpret simple to complex specifications & blueprints.
  • Reads and understands machine code (e.g., tool path, tool callouts, tool changes, part manipulation)
  • Epicor ERP Software experience is a plus.
  • Microsoft word suite experience with excel, word, power point, etc.
  • Willingness to be flexible with your regular work schedule.
  • Must be able to move materials with overhead cranes / forklifts / jib booms.

Employees must be able to cope with Minnesota climate variances, endure heat & cold conditions in the shop. Endure heavy workloads, high noise levels from hammering, and grinding (hearing protection provided). Protect against metal particles, fumes, sparks, particles, and gases (safety glasses, safety-toed boots, ear plugs, and gloves provided per the company policy guidelines).

Individuals working in an office setting will not endure some of the physical & work environments conditions of the production floor unless office is adjacent to the production floor or per the individuals job duties and/ or responsibilities. All office personnel must abide by the PPE guidelines (safety glasses, safety-toed boots that are provided per the company policy guidelines) when entering the production floor or if a requirement of a department that individual is entering or working in.
