A specialized role is available for an experienced PCU Registered Nurse with a strong stepdown nursing background in the Port Wentworth, GA area. This travel nursing opportunity involves providing high-quality care in a combined Med-Surg and stepdown unit within a hospital setting known for its acute care services. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional clinical skills, particularly in telemetry monitoring and drip titration, while maintaining compassionate patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on a 12-bed PCU combining Med-Surg and Stepdown units.
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and manage set-rate drip titration for patients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex patient needs including heart failure, sickle cell, and other med-surg diagnoses.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities as required, while participating in self-scheduling and weekend rotations.
- Perform phlebotomy independently, with no tele/monitor tech support, but not required to read strips.
- Adhere to strict nursing protocols and maintain use of navy scrubs per unit dress code.
- Engage in unit-specific orientation including computer skills and hands-on preceptor shifts.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Active RN licensure with minimum 2 years hospital experience in a similarly sized PCU or stepdown unit.
- Successful completion of at least one previous travel nursing contract.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required.
- Proven ability to manage telemetry and titrate IV drips confidently.
- Experience within hospital acuity levels matching the units requirements.
- Willingness to comply with the 100-mile radius rule (non-local candidates only).
