The Construction Support team member plays a key role in assisting with construction and maintenance projects for Waymaker Design and Build. This position is ideal for individuals with hands-on renovation and construction experience who are looking to contribute meaningfully to high-quality projects while continuing to grow their skills.
Core responsibilities include supporting repairs, installations, and trades work such as carpentry, painting, and electrical or plumbing tasks. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and receptive to guidance. This role is essential in ensuring projects run smoothly and aligns with Waymaker’s mission to Honor God, Help People, and Save Lives.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
- Construction & Maintenance Tasks
- Assist with construction activities including framing, drywall, painting, flooring, and repairs
- Support electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work under supervision
- Prepare job sites by loading/unloading materials and setting up tools and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas during and after tasks
On-Site Support
- Promote and maintain a safe job site, following OSHA and company safety standards
- Report safety hazards or site concerns promptly to team leads
- Assist with setup and breakdown of materials, tools, and equipment
- Help track supplies and organize job site materials and tools
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with team members to ensure timely task completion
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with crew, vendors, and others on-site
- Receive and apply direction and feedback from supervisors and senior crew members
- Adapt to changing priorities and contribute where needed
Tools & Equipment
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Help maintain tools, equipment, and job vehicles in good condition
- Report damaged tools or low supplies to team leads
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in renovation, construction, or a related trade
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of construction safety practices
- Reliable, with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to follow directions and work independently when needed
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- OSHA training or trade school experience is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday
Willing to work at heights or in confined spaces as needed
