Position Summary
Athenomics is seeking an "Account Manager, NGS Services" to grow our customer base across the Greater Boston area.
This is a field-facing sales role for someone with a biology, biomedical, medical, or life science background who understands NGS technologies and enjoys working directly with scientists. The Account Manager will visit customers in person, identify research needs, introduce Athenomics’ services, and work closely with our scientific team to design practical sequencing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and manage customer relationships across the Greater Boston area, including academic institutions, hospitals, biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and CROs.
* Conduct in-person customer visits to introduce Athenomics’ NGS services and understand customer research needs.
* Work with internal scientific teams to translate customer needs into appropriate project plans, service scopes, and quotes.
* Help customers understand sequencing strategy, sample requirements, read depth, workflow options, and bioinformatics deliverables.
* Manage the sales pipeline, follow up with prospects, track opportunities, and support customer onboarding.
* Gather customer feedback and market insights to help improve Athenomics’ services and positioning.
* Represent Athenomics professionally in customer meetings, seminars, local events, and scientific networking opportunities.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or above in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, biomedical sciences, medicine, biotechnology, or a related field.
* Solid understanding of NGS technologies and common applications.
* Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese.
* Willingness to conduct regular in-person customer visits across the Greater Boston area.
* Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
* Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
* Prior experience in academic research, hospital research, biotech, pharma, CRO, genomics service, core facility, or customer-facing scientific roles.
* Experience with NGS project design, sample submission, sequencing depth estimation, or bioinformatics deliverables.
* Familiarity with 10x Genomics, Illumina sequencing platforms, NovaSeq X Plus, or NGS service outsourcing.
* Existing network in the Greater Boston academic, hospital, biotech, or pharma community.
* Interest in business development, scientific sales, account management, or customer-facing biotech roles.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $70,000–$90,000 per year, plus commission, bonus, sales target based incentives, depending on background and qualifications.
