SHARPLES, a leading laser DIE MAKER, is seeking a Full Time, M-F candidate to add to our exceptional team.
THE SHARPLES TOOL & DIE MAKER builds or repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. The DIE MAKER assembles, tests and standardizes complex tools and dies on manufacturing stamping equipment. The DIE MAKER is highly skilled in the use of power-operated machine tools to produce precision metal parts and components to exact specifications. The DIE MAKER is capable of manually setting up and operating a multitude of manual and digital metalworking machinery to produce parts, tools or components to a drawing or sketch. The ability to review part specifications, drawings and requirements and work primarily unsupervised to complete the task and/or fabricate parts by performing the following duties is required for this position.
DIE MAKER Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Reads and interprets CAD drawings, as well as working from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
2. Plans the setup and operation of all types of machine shop tools, considering types of material, tolerances, types of bending tools, cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and tool feeds and speeds.
3. Welds parts as required. Determine requirements for inspection of work, using precision measuring tools, performing required inspection before, during, and after manufacturing.
4. Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade including files, marking equipment, stamps.
5. Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Sets up, runs off, and tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
6. Logs work time accurately on Sharples ERP System.
7. Performs established maintenance of assigned equipment and tools.
8. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
9. Performs other related operations as required or directed, including work at different workstations as production needs required
DIE MAKER Intellectual Requirements:
1. 5 years relevant technical experience.
2. Attention to detail with inspection capabilities.
3. Possess mental and physical agility to use computers and tools.
4. Ability to follow instructions and established uniform procedures related to duties and responsibilities.
5. Ability to knowledgeably explain patterns made for the customer and other employees.
6. Ability to understand the needs of customers.
7. Ability to perform basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division), as well as metric to and from conversions.
8. Carry out duties in a safe & timely manner with strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols.
DIE MAKER Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able 18 years or older and work a maximum of 8-10 hours per day.
2. Stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time up to 4 hours without a break.
3. Bend and stoop to grasp objects.
4. Ability to perform job by repetitive use of right and left hands for simple grasping, power grasping, pushing and pulling and fine manipulation. While exact time may vary for each task, constant use may be anywhere from one hour up to three hours at a time.
5. Must be able to consistently bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat during the course of a work shift.
6. Must be able to lift and carry loads up to 30 pounds regularly and 11-50 pounds intermittently during the course of the work shift. Distance to carry loads may range from 1-100 feet.
7. Demonstrated proficiency in the proper use of all job related equipment.
8. Able to visually examine reports both on paper and on computer screens.
