Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel RN for an ICU position in Denver, CO, requiring a minimum of 1 year of recent acute care ICU experience and active BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications.
Details
- 21-bed ICU unit located in the main building of a Magnet-designated community hospital in Denver, CO
- Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 13-week contract
- Patient ratio is 2:1 standard ICU, 3:1 for step-down status patients, and 1:1 for very high acuity patients
- Common procedures include intubation, central line insertion, bronchoscopy, endoscopy, vasopressor IV drip titration, and ventilator management
- Patient population includes sepsis, arrhythmias, and Med/Surg critical care patients; elective cases are common
- Uses Hospira IV pumps
- EMR: Meditech
- Required to work every 3rd weekend
- Float to Telemetry and other HealthONE hospitals may be required
Requirements
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required (AHA or ARC accepted; no certifications expiring within the first 30 days of start)
- Minimum 1 year of recent acute care hospital ICU experience required
- Minimum 2 years of total clinical experience required for this position
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no Canadian SSN accepted
- One professional reference required
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
Additional Information
- Intensivist is present in the ICU 24/7
- Unit is staffed with a dedicated charge nurse with no patient assignment on both day and night shifts
- Cardiac experience and CRRT experience are preferred
- Float to Telemetry and other network hospitals within the HealthONE system may be required
- Coverage for one major winter holiday is required
- Self-scheduling is available on this unit
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
- First-time travelers are not explicitly mentioned as eligible; prior ICU travel or acute care experience is expected given the minimum requirements
