Summary Description:

  • An HR Generalist is a well-rounded human resource professional responsible for managing a broad range of HR functions across the employee lifecycle. The Human Resources Generalist provides support for the Human Resources Pillars and all departments in the organization. This position is responsible for a variety of complex, confidential, and legal Human Resource duties.


Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities

HR Compliance:

  • Employment paperwork processing, records management, employee relations and retention
  • Assures confidentiality and compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action guidelines, appropriate governmental laws and regulations, and labor relations.
  • Maintains and programs, policies, and procedures for all Human Resource disciplines.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Assist with data management, reports, and services for the HRIS.
  • Benefits & Payroll Coordination: Assisting with salary structures, health benefits, and employee perks.

Employee Relations:

  • Responsible for employee relations and employee services. Addresses grievances, supporting team morale, and promotes positive workplace culture.
  • Maintains compliance with Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide a balanced program throughout the organization
  • Leads HR investigations and grievance processes, with the guidance of HR Manager.
  • Assist with outcome management of investigations: discplinary action, re-training, documentation, and recommended preventative action.

Onboarding:

  • Lead Presenter and responsible for New Hire Orientation and processes.
  • Responsible for processing all new hire paperwork and input of employee information into the HRIS.
  • Manage community volunteer programs and conduct volunteer orientations.
  • Asist with LMS management, reports, and processes.

Learning and Development:

  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions.
  • Delivers in-person and eLearning training throughout the organization using LMS software.
  • Help improve operational performance by utilizing our Learning Management System to train, retrain, and keep staff accountable for learning goals.
  • Performs system tasks, including curriculum building, scheduling sessions, uploading courses, and extracting report data.
  • Assists in developing training manuals, job aids, performance management, and online tutorials using Design Thinking methods to reflect current policies, procedures, and practices, such as having a Growth Mindset and providing multiple learner pathways to reach the learning objective.

Talent/ Recruitment:

  • Directs employment activities, such that employees are properly hired, maintained and terminated for business needs according to policy and procedure.
  • Assist the talent team in job fairs, dispositioning resumes, phone screening, scheduling interviews, drug testing, and other recruitment processes.
  • Communicate with hiring managers to ensure HR compliance and processes are followed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • College degree is preferred and 4 + years in human resources generalist experience and/or any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Working knowledge of employment law and regulations and wage and hour and their application in the day-to-day HR working environment
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws regulating Human Resources
  • Good public/employee relations skills, problem solving, analyses and decision-making ability
  • Previous experience working in all areas related to human resources at a corporate level in a company size of 300+ employees
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with an HRIS and payroll software.
  • Ability to partner with employee and executive level.
  • Utmost ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible.
  • Ability to give consistent counsel to supervisors and managers
  • Must possess a valid California motor vehicle operating license and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of employment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR/SPHR Human Resources Certification

  • Corporate Training & Talent Development - Trains, coaches, and mentors interdepartmental and external departments on processes, policies, and procedures. Develops training standard operating procedures to improve effectiveness. Ensures alignment between HR/ Learning and Development Compliance and all departments
  • Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement - Develops processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Implements best practices to maximize efficiency. Conducts routinely audits to inspect process and procedures.
  • Performance Metrics & Accountability - Utilize KPIs for compliance and process efficiency. Uses data to drive decision-making and hold teams accountable. Continuously monitors progress and adjusts strategies as needed.
