Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
St. Anne Institute – Albany, NY
Full-Time | Salary $80,000–$85,000
St. Anne Institute, a well-established residential and behavioral health program serving youth and families in the Capital Region, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting clinical excellence, staff development, and high-quality patient care.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Nursing supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing all nursing operations within our residential and community-based programs. The ADON ensures high standards of nursing practice, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, and continuity of care. This role includes leadership responsibilities, clinical oversight, and participation in an on-call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing with daily operations and clinical oversight of nursing services
- Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, and support staff)
- Ensure compliance with NYS OMH, DOH, and OCFS regulations and agency policies
- Monitor medication administration, documentation, and quality assurance processes
- Participate in hiring, training, evaluations, and performance management of nursing staff
- Respond to clinical issues, incidents, and emergencies as needed
- Collaborate with medical providers, program leadership, and interdisciplinary teams
- Participate in on-call coverage, including evenings and weekends as required
Qualifications
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in behavioral health, residential, or pediatric/adolescent settings
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medication management, regulatory standards, and clinical best practices
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-Time flexible schedule
- Evenings a weekends as needed
- Salary range: $80,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience
