Position Overview:
As a Police Officer, you will perform patrol duties to maintain public order, enforce local, state, and federal laws, and respond to calls for service. Officers work both independently and as part of a team while exercising sound judgment in dynamic and potentially high-risk situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine and preventive patrols throughout the city
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws and ordinances
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and suspicious activities
- Conduct traffic enforcement and accident investigations
- Prepare detailed incident and arrest reports
- Assist community members and provide public safety support
- Participate in community policing initiatives and outreach efforts
- Testify in court and maintain proper evidence documentation
Qualifications:
- Must have APOSTC (Alabama Police Officer Standard and Training Commission)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in stressful situations
- Commitment to ethical conduct and community service
Work Environment:
Police Officers perform duties both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. The role may involve responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and handling potentially dangerous situations requiring quick decision-making and situational awareness.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $45,000 – $47,000 annually
