Position Summary:
Performs a variety of professional, complex, technical, and analytical duties in support of the Department; coordinates the administration, development, and operation of marketing, PR and media functions.
Essential Duties:
- Manages the airports social media, oversees the airports presence on social media, creates, posts, and monitors contact on social media platforms.
- Develops and implements content for industry social and local media exposure, and promotional campaigns.
- Tracks, reviews, and analyzes social media metrics with bi-weekly and annual reporting.
- Researches and applies new and current social media trends.
- Oversees airport photography, videography and graphic design, takes and edits photos of events, aircraft, and airport happenings, edits any video of airport events, aircraft, and passenger testimonials; designs airport signage, banners, digital ads, invitations, and social media content according to the city's brand standards.
- Coordinates public outreach through the management of events, press conferences, open houses, customer appreciation days, groundbreakings, media tours, and networking events.
- Assists with noise program response, community collaboration, and response to complaints
- Oversees and manages terminal advertising program; develops and maintains a terminal marketing and advertising plan that includes sales goals and strategies designed to maximize airport revenue.
- Works closely and builds relationships with airport staff, vendors and airlines to coordinate marketing efforts and ensure that air service objectives are met and airport facilities are reflective of a superior customer service experience.
- In conjunction with the City's Communication Department, acts as the airport's primary contact for media inquiries, both routine and in times of emergency.
- Manages and ensures the currency and accuracy of information on the airport's website and responds to public inquiries and comments.
- Interfaces routinely with airline officials, Chamber of Commerce members, visitors, city employees, and industry trade groups.
- Designs and executes creative strategies; thinks outside the box to resolve problems and builds critical relationships.
- Performs general administrative duties; assists in negotiating, creating, and administering agreements and contracts as assigned, as it relates to marketing and advertising.
- Works with management to streamline processes and develop written policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for various Department functions.
- Develops and maintains annual marketing and communication plans, outlining goals, target audiences, budget allocations, and measurable outcomes.
- Conducts market research to evaluate passenger demographics, traveler preferences, and airline performance to support air service development efforts.
- Ensures brand consistency with City protocol, to include, signage, digital assets, and partner materials.
- Creates targeted marketing campaigns for new routes, seasonal flights, and airline promotions in collaboration with carriers and local guidelines.
- Drafts press releases, talking points, media statements, editorial content, and newsletters for internal and external audiences relating to airport marketing, advertising and/or community outreach/involvement, and coordinates dissemination.
- Assists in crisis communication planning, including maintaining emergency communication templates and participating in tabletop exercises.
- Prepares executive-level presentations for airport leadership, city officials, and community stakeholders.
- Builds and maintains relationships with community organizations, tourism bureaus, schools, aviation clubs, and economic development groups, and negotiates mutually beneficial promotional programs.
- Coordinates educational and community programs, such as airport tours, aviation career outreach, partnerships, and youth engagement events.
- Represents the airport at community meetings, conferences, trade shows, and regional marketing committees.
- Leads initiatives to enhance the passenger experience, including terminal wayfinding, customer service programs, volunteer ambassador coordination, and traveler feedback systems.
- Conducts routine terminal walkthroughs to ensure marketing materials, signage, and digital displays are accurate, up to date, and visually appealing.
- Implements passenger surveys, analyzes results, and recommends improvements based on feedback.
- Explores new non-aeronautical revenue opportunities, such as sponsorships, experiential marketing, and pop-up retail partnerships (in accordance with Grant Assurances, etc.).
- Manages digital advertising assets, including website ad inventory, digital terminal screens, and partner content and social media.
- Oversees email marketing newsletters, subscriber databases, and automated customer communication tools.
- Implements Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies to increase website traffic and improve online visibility for airport services.
- Monitors online reviews (Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor, Facebook, Instagram) and coordinates timely and professional responses.
- Manages budgets for marketing, events, advertising, and promotional activities, ensuring responsible allocation and tracking of expenditures.
- Prepares procurement documentation for marketing vendors, design services, printing, photography, and advertising contracts.
- Evaluates vendors and contractors, ensuring deliverables meet airport standards/policies and deadlines.
- Maintains a digital asset management system for photos, videos, brand elements, and marketing files.
- Assists air service development teams with presentations, route and market analyses, and airline outreach materials.
- Stays current with aviation industry trends, attending webinars and conferences related to airport marketing, public relations, and customer experience.
- Works with management and other staff to draft policy, procedures, ordinance, and permit revisions.
- Supports management in communicating, internally and externally, through reports, presentations, and meetings.
- Assists management in a variety of tasks, including identification and recommendations for proactive measures to implement short and long-range plans and program development.
- Assists in the preparation, revision, and implementation of the Department-oriented plans and forecasting documents.
- Assists with special projects.
- Provides customer service; improves operating results; and minimizes delays and conflicts.
- May supervise administrative staff; oversee work; train, mentors, and evaluate performance, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Airport Business Administration and/or Marketing or in a field related to assigned area; five (5) years experience performing analytical and/or marketing work in public administration along with experience working with computer software related to assigned area; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Depending on assigned area: possess a valid Class D Arizona driver's license (or obtain within 30 days of hire); pass a security background investigations, pre-employment drug test, and driver's record check; pass a security threat assessment and a 10-year FBI criminal history records check, as required by assigned area.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a standard City office environment.
- Duties require working evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Safely operates a City vehicle and a variety of standard office equipment, including a computer terminal, telephone, 10-key calculator, copier, and fax machine requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Clearly, concisely, and effectively communicates in person and over the telephone (and aviation radios depending on department).
- Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
