Job Description

Job Description

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Position Overview

The Electrical & Power Systems Test (EPS/CSAT) Engineering Intern will support functional testing, hardware validation, and integration activities for satellite electrical and power subsystems. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside the Midland EPS test team to validate flight hardware, design and build test harnesses and PCBs, and support lab-based development and troubleshooting. The intern will collaborate cross-functionally with power, RF, command and data handling (C&DH), and other subsystem teams to ensure reliable electrical system performance and seamless spacecraft integration.

This internship is from 5/18/2026 to 8/7/2026 on-site at our Midland, TX facility. A housing stipend of $250 per week will be provided. You must be enrolled in the following semester. If you just graduated, please apply to one of our full-time roles.

Key Responsibilities

Test & Validation Support

  • Support CSAT functional testing and hardware validation of satellite electrical and power systems.
  • Execute test procedures and assist with troubleshooting electrical and system-level issues.
  • Support cell cycling, battery testing, and performance analysis.
  • Collect, analyze, and document test data to verify subsystem performance and reliability.

Harnessing & Electrical Design

  • Design and develop electrical test harnesses and printed circuit boards (PCBs) to support integration and validation activities.
  • Produce harness schematics and assist in fabrication and build of flight harnessing.
  • Support continuity checks, integration fit checks, and electrical verification.

Documentation & Process Support

  • Produce and maintain documentation for test procedures, configurations, and results.
  • Update work instructions and test reports to ensure traceability and repeatability.
  • Support configuration control and engineering documentation standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary subsystem teams including Power, RF, and Command & Data Handling.
  • Communicate technical status, risks, and issues across teams.
  • Support integration activities and assist with system-level problem resolution.

Project Ownership & Lab Support

  • Provide general lab and engineering support where needed by the Midland EPS test team.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and projects, setting and meeting milestones.
  • Apply critical thinking and structured problem-solving to resolve technical challenges.
