Nestled in an inspiring natural setting, our nonprofit retreat center supports mission-driven programs and guests—primarily from the education and nonprofit sectors—by offering them a peaceful space to rest, reflect, and recharge.

POSITION SUMMARY
Our Event Host position has similarities to a banquet server but at a more intimate level. Ensures event details are executed as it relates to food service, food service area and audio-visual needs. Keeps in communication with guests throughout the event and handles any additional meeting requests. Ensures meals are served on time and that all food items are accounted for and of quality standards. Maintains event area ambiance and ensures standards of cleanliness, appearance, hospitality, and service is met. Has the ability to problem solve and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES?
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, area cleanliness and timeliness of service.
- Manage the event spaces and meal periods to ensure each food station is stocked with the right food, supplies and signage in accordance with the event details.
- Be the point of contact with the customer's event planner for the meal and break periods.
- Set the ambiance and atmosphere of the guest spaces including music, lighting, seating, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of cleanliness in all event areas before and after service.
- Ensure all food and beverage items have been brought in from all the patios at the end of service.
- Set up and maintain taps for beer and wine.
- Set up and serve any liquor packages ordered.
- Facilitate smore’s events each evening.
- Set guest spaces with needed TVs, Flip charts, speakers, etc.
- Set meeting spaces with standard items including pens, pads, etc.
- Keep all snack areas stocked.
- Stock all event areas with plate ware, glasses, utensils and napkins.
- Manage all event activities requested such as Karaoke, movie nights, scavenger hunts, etc.
- Event hosts would at times lead hikes or other activities.
- Accommodate guest requests that arise during their stay with us. Be on alert for emergency communication from guests.
- Communicate with guests and staff via tech apps and smartphones. Respond to guest needs via this app.
- Clean and organize event team supplies and equipment.
- Notify managers of items to be ordered.
- Responsible for exceptional presentation of public space areas.
- Restocking and organizing food and beverage items in storage areas throughout buildings.
- Report any accidents or incidents immediately.
- Ensure the building is secure.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Follow emergency protocols to protect guest safety and property.
- Escalate any guest or safety issues to department leaders.
- Tasks from any supervisor should be taken care of upon request.
Abilities and requirements
- Required to have a passion for serving others and offer high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Required to have an operating cell phone and ability to communicate via an app.
- Ability to drive at speed limits and always practice legal rules of the road and high safety levels.
- Ability to use phone apps to punch in / out.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Ability to troubleshoot challenges, problem solve and diffuse high-tension situations.
- Ability to communicate with others in a manner that is professional and respectful.
- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Ability to walk, bend, climb stairs and perform at altitudes up to 9000.
- Physical capacity to navigate natural terrain, stairs, and potentially slippery surfaces due to winter conditions.
- Ability to stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
- Role requires repetitive motion.
