We are seeking an entry-level Chemist I to join our team in Scarborough, Maine, within the Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit. This position involves producing materials for use in immunology-based chromatography and enzyme tests. Candidates should possess either an Associate's degree with 1-2 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry. The role requires familiarity with wet bench skills, including the use of pH meters and titrations, as well as a basic understanding of analytical theories.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and support the production schedule.
- Investigate problem areas and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Undertake new procedures while observing proper safety precautions.
- Perform in-process quality control testing of manufacturing materials related to quality inspections and titration.
- Maintain quality systems and adhere to GMP/GLP standards.
- Create and follow protocols designed for product improvement.
- Produce critical and non-critical bioreagents for use in products and manufacturing processes using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Work in a team setting to coordinate manufacturing efforts based on a set production schedule, ensuring raw bioreagent supplies are maintained as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with micropipetting, aseptic technique, and working in laminar flow hoods.
- Ability to use measurement tools including pH meters, balances, serological pipettes, and graduated cylinders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision.
- Proficiency in using computer applications, including spreadsheet, database, manufacturing, and word processing software.
Work Environment
The position requires working in a cold room environment with temperatures between 2-8 degrees Celsius for extended periods of 4-6 hours or more, as manufacturing needs require. The work shift is from 6 am to 2:30 pm.

This is a Contract position based out of Scarborough, ME.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
