Job Description

You’ll serve as the central HR point of contact, working closely with leadership and departments across the organization. While this is a primarily independent role, you’ll regularly collaborate with others to support and manage core HR functions such as onboarding, benefits, compliance tracking, workers’ compensation backup, and maintaining employee records and documentation. This position is key to ensuring an organized and consistent HR operation, while also contributing to a positive and professional experience for employees throughout the company.


Key Responsibilities

Benefits & Leave Administration

  • Coordinate employee benefits and serve as liaison with brokers
  • Respond to employee inquiries and manage EAP communications
  • Administer and track FMLA, ADA, and short-term disability leaves


Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Post jobs, screen applicants, and conduct reference checks
  • Coordinate start dates, orientation, and training schedules
  • Complete onboarding paperwork, I-9/E-Verify, background checks, and IT setups


HR Systems & Recordkeeping

  • Maintain employee data in HRIS/ATS and ensure compliance reporting (e.g., EEOC, child support)
  • Keep HR forms, SOPs, and employee files organized and current
  • Track reviews, salary changes, training completions, and terminations
  • Manage company incentive platform (add/deactivate users, assign points)
  • Fulfill supply orders and support external profile updates


Policy, Compliance & Legal Support

  • Maintain employee handbook and issue policy update memos
  • Assist with legal matters by coordinating with counsel, reviewing agreements, and gathering documentation
  • Support audits, investigations, and required compliance filings (EEOC, internal reports, etc.)


General Support

  • Respond to employee questions with professionalism and discretion
  • Coordinate with IT for onboarding/offboarding system access and equipment agreements
  • Back up the Workers’ Compensation Manager during absences


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in an HR support or administrative role
  • Working knowledge of FMLA administration and general leave of absence processes
  • Strong knowledge of I-9 compliance and HR best practices
  • Experience processing or supporting weekly payroll, ideally in environments with variable compensation (commissions/bonuses)
  • Familiarity with ATS and HRIS systems
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment


Work Environment & Schedule

  • Based in Edison, NJ with in-office requirement to start
  • Hybrid flexibility available (3–4 days in office) after initial onboarding period
  • Standard hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00-4:00, 8:30–4:30, 9:00–5:00 (flexible)
  • Travel required to other branch locations within New Jersey as needed
