We are looking for a meticulous and reliable Staff Accountant to join our client's team at a well known college prep high school in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will support the Business Office by overseeing essential financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting tasks. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, confidentiality, and a customer-focused approach when working with families, vendors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the student billing process and maintain accurate financial records for families.
• Oversee tuition payment systems, ensuring smooth processing and prompt resolution of issues.
• Provide assistance to families with billing inquiries, delivering timely and detail-oriented support.
• Review and process vendor invoices and check requests for payment.
• Monitor account balances to ensure sufficient funds are available.
• Communicate with vendors to address and resolve billing discrepancies.
• Maintain and reconcile petty cash accounts to ensure accurate records.
• Prepare and post journal entries as well as other general ledger transactions.
• Generate monthly financial reports and support ad hoc reporting needs.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 2+ years of experience in accounting or business office operations, preferably within an educational or nonprofit organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with accounting software and tuition management systems is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing outstanding customer service.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with tuition management platforms such as FACTS or Blackbaud is preferred.
