Job Description

Position Title: Automation Maintenance Specialist

General Purpose of Role: Coordinate maintenance department activities and projects.

Essential Functions of the Role: Project Coordination & Technical Responsibilities

  • Schedule and coordinate all plant and facility projects related to electrical controls, networking, maintenance, and other assigned facility projects.
  • Manage project design, cost estimation, contractor coordination, project administration, and cost control.
  • Oversee installation and scheduling of equipment, ensuring drawings and documentation are updated.
  • Maintain electrical power systems, controls, and distribution.
  • Manage plant equipment assets, including equipment selection, construction coordination, and installation.
  • Track and control maintenance inventory.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and achievement of maintenance and facility goals.

Systems, Controls, and Technology

Manage and support the following systems and equipment:

o Telesis systems (repairs and troubleshooting)

o Rockwell software platforms

o Security camera systems

o Zebra printer/scanner maintenance and repair

o Primary power transformer testing and maintenance

o Infrared scans

o Andon boards

o Plant lighting systems

o Energy management and sustainability initiatives

o I-Gear MES system

o ODIX implementation

o Plant radio system and FCC licensing

Program and troubleshoot HMI systems using Allen Bradley FactoryTalk Studio.

Program ladder logic using Allen Bradley Logix 500 and Logix 5000.

Configure controls components including VFDs, servo drives, robot controllers, machine vision systems, and field I/O racks.

Troubleshooting & Engineering Support

Troubleshoot control systems for manufacturing equipment.

Diagnose electrical distribution systems, power supplies, motors, drives, and motor control centers.

Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and documentation for custom machines and systems.

Use PLC, HMI, and data collection systems to analyze equipment performance.

Provide problem-solving support for maintenance and engineering teams.

Demonstrate working knowledge of industrial networking.

Academics and Experience Criteria:

Associate degree in related field and 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, or 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing (automotive preferred)

2 - 5 years Automation/Controls manufacturing experience (automotive preferred)

Able to work any shift with overtime, possibly on short notice

ODIX experience preferred
