Howard University Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Business Applications to lead enterprise systems supporting healthcare operations, revenue cycle, ERP platforms, and business intelligence solutions. This senior IT leadership role oversees enterprise application strategy, system integration, and application portfolio management within a large academic medical center.
Role Summary
Howard University Hospital is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Business Applications to lead the enterprise systems that support hospital operations, financial performance, and revenue cycle integrity. This role provides executive leadership for the strategy, governance, and lifecycle management of critical enterprise platforms including ERP systems, Revenue Cycle applications, Workforce Management systems, and Business Intelligence environments.
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Director of Business Applications is responsible for aligning enterprise application strategy with hospital priorities while ensuring systems remain secure, integrated, scalable, and optimized to support patient care and operational performance.
This leadership role oversees a team of business application professionals and manages enterprise technology platforms that directly impact revenue integrity, workforce operations, financial reporting, and organizational performance.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the strategy, governance, and lifecycle management of enterprise business applications including ERP, Revenue Cycle, Workforce Management, and Business Intelligence platforms.
- Develop and execute enterprise application roadmaps aligned with organizational goals and digital transformation initiatives.
- Oversee application portfolio prioritization, resource allocation, and investment planning across enterprise systems.
- Ensure integration and alignment across Finance, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, Payroll, Supply Chain, and operational departments.
- Provide executive oversight for major enterprise application initiatives including system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
- Lead complex cross-functional enterprise initiatives and system implementations when dedicated project management resources are not assigned.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and adherence to enterprise security and governance standards.
- Partner with Compliance, Finance, Revenue Cycle leadership, and Internal Audit to mitigate technology and system risks.
- Develop and manage vendor partnerships, service-level agreements, and enterprise system performance metrics.
- Lead and develop a team of Business Applications professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support executive leadership with enterprise reporting capabilities through Business Intelligence platforms.
- Provide executive-level reporting on system performance, portfolio health, financial impact, and operational risks.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing enterprise applications in a healthcare or similarly complex regulated environment.
- Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience managing teams responsible for enterprise systems or technology platforms.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading major ERP, Revenue Cycle, or enterprise system implementations.
- Experience overseeing enterprise application portfolios and collaborating with executive stakeholders on technology strategy.
- Strong understanding of enterprise governance, regulatory compliance, and audit processes within healthcare environments.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills in complex operational environments.
- Experience managing a team of approximately 10 direct reports and overseeing multi-million-dollar application portfolios is strongly preferred.

Position Details

Status: Full-Time | Exempt | Non-Union
Pay + Schedule
Salary Range: $170,000 – $190,000 annually
This position is a full-time exempt leadership role. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support enterprise system implementations or operational needs.
