Additional Bonuses, Group Health Insurance benefits available on day 1, 401k and more!Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN)Position SummaryThe Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse provides specialized, compassionate, and evidence-based care to critically ill or injured infants, children, and adolescents. The PICU RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients with life-threatening conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, post-operative recovery, and complex congenital disorders.This role demands advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and emotional resilience to support both patients and their families through high-stress situations.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct care to critically ill pediatric patients, utilizing advanced assessment and monitoring skills.Manage ventilators, invasive lines, and vasoactive medication infusions according to provider orders and hospital protocols.Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition, initiating appropriate interventions.Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team—physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and child life specialists—to deliver coordinated, family-centered care.Administer medications, fluids, and blood products safely and accurately.Maintain precise documentation of patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes in the EMR.Provide education and emotional support to patients’ families, promoting understanding and involvement in care.Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality improvement standards within the PICU.Participate in continuing education, mock codes, and professional development activities to maintain clinical competency.QualificationsEducation: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).Licensure: Current, unencumbered RN license in state of practice.Certifications:BLS and PALS requiredACLS and CCRN (Pediatric) preferredNRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification a plusExperience:Minimum of 1–2 years of pediatric or intensive care experience requiredPrior PICU or pediatric step-down experience strongly preferred
