Job DescriptionThe Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs (CTWS) are hiring a limited-duration seasonal technician to support habitat restoration and monitoring efforts based out of John Day, Oregon, working throughout the Upper John Day Basin. This is a full-time (40 hours/week), ~12-week paid position for individuals (18+) looking to build hands-on experience in field-based environmental science and restoration. Pay is $21-25/hour depending on experience. The technician will work closely with CTWS staff on projects focused on river and floodplain habitat, monitoring, and data collection.

Duty Station: Located in John Day, OR.
Requirements

Collect field data to support habitat monitoring and restoration evaluation Assist with stream surveys (e.g., channel morphology, pools, side channels)

Support restoration implementation and maintenance activities Use field equipment and contribute to data organization and quality control

Perform basic maintenance, logistics support, and field prep This position is field-intensive and requires work. Outdoors in variable weather, walking on rough terrain, and lifting 30+ pounds. Work will occur during regular weekday hours.

Hands-on experience with habitat monitoring methods and restoration projects exposure to real-world data collection, field logistics, and applied science skills in teamwork, problem-solving, and working in dynamic field settings Experience supporting Tribal natural resource management Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening the position is expected to start in May, with flexibility depending on candidate availability and project needs.
