Education: High school graduate; Medical Assistant training; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Major Duties:(This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment in a timely manner.
- Take patient histories and vital signs.
- Prepare and disburse lab slips, X-ray forms and patient education materials.
- Assist physician in preparing for and completing exams and procedures.
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms with necessary instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Clean instruments and spills using universal precautions.
- Administer injections.
- Draw blood, collect urine and perform lab work as directed by the physician.
- Document in the electronic medical record and scan documents into the system.
- Complete all tasks in a timely fashion.
- Call patients for problems and/or follow-up as directed by the physician.
- Use good judgment to assess when patients require enhance monitoring or ambulatory assistance.
- Keep work area, pod and other assigned areas neat and clean.
- Perform requested work as required.
