Job Title: Surgical Technician / Technician
Location: Brooklyn, NY (Major Medical Center in a busy Labor & Delivery Unit)
Pay Rate: $47 per hour
Contract: 12/01/2025 - 03/03/2026
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join a dynamic Labor & Delivery team in Brooklyn, NY. This position is based in a large, high-acuity medical center known for its fast-paced environment and commitment to exceptional patient care. The Surgical Technician will play a key role in assisting physicians and nurses during obstetric and gynecologic surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and maintaining sterile technique throughout all operations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are properly sterilized and organized.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and other sterile supplies.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and respond promptly to requests during operations.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of specimens, instruments, and materials.
- Maintain and track surgical equipment and supplies to ensure readiness and proper inventory.
- Adhere to infection control policies and maintain a sterile field at all times.
- Support the Labor & Delivery team with pre-, intra-, and post-operative care as needed.
- Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program is required.
- Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery or a related surgical setting strongly preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation, and obstetric procedures.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills with attention to detail and patient safety.
Schedule:
- Shift: 5x8 Evenings
- Shift Time: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Shifts per Week: 5 (40 hours total)
