Job DescriptionSalary: $25.00 Hourly

Job Summary:
Supports the College Mission to serve students, employers, and the community. The Training Advancement Center Specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting public safety training activities at Southwest Technical College, focusing on the Southwest Tech Training Advancement Center (STAC). The specialist will work closely with internal teams and external partners, including military, fire, EMS, and law enforcement agencies, to ensure high-quality, relevant training that meets community and industry needs.



Essential Functions:

STAC Training and Program Coordination:

  1. Coordinates planning and delivery of training programs for public safety personnel, including fire, EMS, law enforcement, and military-aligned agencies.
  2. Collaborates with faculty, staff, and external instructors to develop, schedule, and
    deliver training.
  3. Ensures all training materials, props, and equipment are prepared and operational for
    scheduled activities.
  4. Oversees logistics for training events, including classroom and facility usage, equipment
    setup, and participant communication.
  5. Supports the development and integration of simulation-based and scenario-based training
    using the new Public Safety Training Center.
  6. Maintains training calendars and collaborates on scheduling with other departments to avoid conflicts and maximize utilization.
  7. Collects participant feedback and training data to inform quality improvements.

Outreach and Industry Collaboration:

  1. Builds and maintains strong relationships with public safety agencies, military units, and
    regional stakeholders.
  2. Engages in regular outreach efforts to assess training needs and promote available training
    programs.
  3. Participates in advisory groups and planning meetings with partner agencies and internal
    teams.
  4. Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between academic, facilities, and operations teams
    to deliver seamless training.
  5. Collaborates closely with the Business Training Manager to ensure consistent processes for
    scheduling, documentation, and delivery of training across public safety and business training programs. Shares resources and aligns procedures where appropriate while focusing on public safety priorities.

Administrative Duties:

  1. Prepares and processes contracts, instructor paperwork, and documentation related to training events.
  2. Tracks and reports on participation, program performance, and resource usage.
  3. Supports grant, sponsorship, or funding initiatives related to public safety training.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned in support of department goals.



Qualifications:
To perform at a proficient level and to be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:

  1. Education: HS Diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelors degree in emergency services, public safety, military science, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in public safety, emergency services, or military operations.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience coordinating or delivering training in a public safety or military environment.
  3. Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environmental conditions.
    • Must be physically able to set up classrooms and operate training equipment.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, load, or unload up to 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to travel independently to other and/or remote locations via driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.
  4. Background Check:Must be able to pass a background check.



Environmental Factors:

Conventional Educational Environment. In some programs, employees may occasionally be exposed to cleaning chemicals and the hazards associated with their respective industry equipment.
