STOP is a professional traffic control company dedicated to keeping traffic safe during road work. As a traffic control technician, you will work as part of a team that diverts traffic away from the work area. You will often be expected to help control traffic and sometimes assist with the ongoing work at the jobsite. As part of a team, you must create a safe work zone that ensures that traffic stays out of the way of the workers. This involves setting up cones and safety barriers that show traffic where to drive, as well as holding up signs that tells traffic to either stop or to proceed slowly. Traffic-control technicians must be constantly aware of both the construction and traffic activity taking place around them.
As a Traffic Control Technician, your on-site responsibilities will include:
Reporting to work at the designated start time, all projects are time sensitive
Working and communicating with mangers and coworkers to create a team environment
Follow directions of the team leader as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
Setting up, maintaining and removing temporary work zones including warning signs, traffic cones, drums, and barricades.
Loading and unloading work zone equipment to and from the company vehicle.
Driving the company vehicle to and from job sites in a safe manner.
Directing traffic by flagging using the sign paddle appropriately after proper training.
Working in all weather conditions and standing for long periods of time.
Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies.
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the general public at all times.
Your Daily Responsibilities will include:
Properly follow all company policies
Completing a detailed daily timesheet
Filling out vehicle and radio log books
Ensuring that your assigned vehicle is working properly at the beginning and end of each shift by completing daily vehicle maintenance form
Always make sure to take the proper personal protection equipment including vest and hard hat.
Reporting any maintenance problems or safety concerns to the team leader immediately and completing any corresponding forms
Keeping company vehicles clean and orderly, making sure all trash is removed at the end of the shift
Perform other work-related duties as assigned, including shop work which may include general maintenance, inventory, and organizing of equipment
