Position Overview:

Porchlight, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our accounting team. This role is crucial for managing and processing income from various sources, including rent, government and community grants, donations, and retail sales. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in accounting software and a commitment to accuracy and efficiency.

The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for managing and processing income from various sources, including rent, donations, and retail sales. This role ensures accurate financial record-keeping, timely resolution of discrepancies, and effective use of accounting software. The specialist will support internal teams by maintaining up-to-date accounts and contributing to the overall financial operations of Porchlight, Inc.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  1. Income Processing: Record and process income transactions from sources such as rent payments, donations, and retail sales. Ensure accurate and timely entry of all transactions into the accounting system.
  2. Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of accounts receivable to maintain accurate and up-to-date records. Investigate and resolve discrepancies in account balances promptly.
  3. Reporting: Prepare and maintain detailed financial reports related to accounts receivable. Assist in the generation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Software Utilization: Utilize accounting software (Yardi, Donor Perfect, Sage Intacct) for managing and tracking financial transactions. Ensure data accuracy and resolve any software issues in collaboration with the IT department.
  5. Account Management: Maintain accurate records of transactions and ensure all accounts are updated regularly. Address and resolve payment or account discrepancies in a timely manner, supporting internal teams as needed.
  6. Compliance: Adhere to financial regulations and organizational policies to ensure compliance. Assist with audits and financial reviews as required to uphold financial integrity.
  7. Collaboration and Team Support: Work closely with the Finance Director and other team members to support overall financial operations. Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on improving processes and workflows.
  8. Following Directions: Execute tasks and responsibilities as outlined by the Finance Director. Provide support and assist with special projects as assigned by the Finance Director.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts receivable or a similar accounting role. Experience in a nonprofit environment is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in Yardi, Donor Perfect, and Sage Intacct considered a strong advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles and practices. Familiarity with financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Attributes: Professional demeanor with strong communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

Compensation and Benefits:
