Job Description
Job DescriptionBrightStar Care is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Platform Engineering team, which is responsible for the foundational infrastructure, reliability, and developer experience across our healthcare technology solutions. This role blends people leadership with technical strategy, focusing on DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and enablement of Engineers across teams.Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a team of platform engineers, SREs, and DevOps specialists through hiring and career development. Foster a culture of psychological safety, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Technology Strategy & Execution: Define and drive the execution of the platform engineering roadmap, aligning infrastructure and reliability goals with product and business objectives. Lead strategic initiatives around scalability, observability, and automation.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design and implementation of cloud-native infrastructure, including container orchestration (AKS), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), and serverless components.
- DevOps & CI/CD Enablement: Champion modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment strategies that accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance through proactive monitoring, incident response, and capacity planning.
Required SkillsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
- 6+ years of engineering experience, including 4+ years in a management or technical leadership role.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Expertise in managing cloud infrastructure deployments such as; Azure Cloud, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, SRE principles, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Appsights & Monitor).
- Experience with developer productivity tooling and platform engineering best practices.
- Proven ability to lead distributed teams and drive cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and decision-making skills.
Optional Qualifications
- Experience in Healthcare technology, including in clinical provider environments and patient engagement platforms.
- Experience with .NET, modern JavaScript frameworks, and cloud-native application architecture.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Travel to the Bannockburn IL office on a monthly basis.
- Work environment – Fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic work environment with a focus on teamwork and meeting tight deadlines.
- Hours – 8am to 5pm; after hours work as needed, emergency on-call for security incidents.
