Finance Specialist
The Finance Specialist is responsible for maintaining accounting records in compliance with accrual-based accounting (generally accepted accounting principles) and applicable laws and regulations. This includes creating financial models and reports to support organizational decision making and financial strategy. Collaboration with internal staff, the board of directors, the SWAN Prime Contract fiscal department, subcontractors and vendors is essential to project management.
What You Will Contribute
- Leads and issues reimbursement and payment to vendors (such as credit card companies, insurance, and benefits) and partner agencies.
- Ensure accuracy of accounting system by transferring payroll information, maintaining invoice records, and entering deposits.
- Complete reconciliation of financial records on a monthly basis as well as prepares for and participates in the annual audit.
- Tracks and enters bill related data to the accounting software to track accounts payables and accounts receivables (AP/AR).
- Prepare financial data for budget and financial strategy decision-making purposes.
- Prepare monthly billing invoices to SWAN Prime Contract fiscal department, records for subcontracts and other customers.
- Create models and reports to support the Finance Director, Chief Operating Officer, Board of Directors and Finance and Operations Committee decision making.
- Other duties as assigned.
What It Takes To Succeed
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred with four years experience or equivalent of experience in a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of accrual-based accounting and reporting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency with accounting software and electronic time keeping systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A valid driver's license.
