Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Downstream Processing Technician to support the manufacture of Commercial and Clinical Biologics. The role involves following Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and performing various functions related to purification and filtration processes, including handling large-scale chromatography and bioreactors.
Responsibilities
- Review all area documents and ensure compliance with standards.
- Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators, completing batch records in adherence to cGMPs.
- Conduct in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
- Weigh, transfer, and mix chemicals as required for production.
- Perform product filtrations and clean/steam steel tanks (CIP/SIP).
- Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization and operate autoclave.
- Maintain lab equipment, including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
- Keep department lead or manager informed of all relevant issues.
- Monitor stocks of common lab supplies and respond to emergency notifications.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, as needed.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM-related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in manufacturing, operation, production, or a lab setting.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques and knowledge of cGMP practices.
- Experience with large-scale chromatography and bioreactors.
Work Environment
The position requires working in cleanroom/aseptic suites with a night shift schedule from 6:15 pm to 6:45 am on rotating 12-hour shifts. Employees must adhere to gowning requirements, including wearing a full gowning suit, and be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs independently. The role demands standing for 80% of the shift. The work environment prohibits makeup, jewelry, nail polish, cologne/perfume, and scented products.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $32.20 - $32.20/hr.
