Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a 48-hour per week ICU night shift position requiring strong critical care skills and TNCC certification.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in a mixed adult ICU including MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU with 39 total beds
  • Patient population covers surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and multiple trauma cases with high acuity
  • ICU RN patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3, depending on acuity
  • Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, with a 48-hour per week schedule
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend, but not guaranteed
  • Travelers may float to adult Med-Surg/Telemetry units as needed, up to a 1:4 ratio
  • Experience with Epic EMR is required; ICU uses Epic, Omnicell, and Alaris/Baxter infusion pumps
  • Initial orientation includes a hospital orientation and ICU-specific shifts (one 12-hour, one 8-hour)
  • Cardiac ICU experience, especially with CABG/TAVR cases post-op, is preferred but not required
  • No responsibility for fresh open-heart cases unless specifically experienced and approved
  • Support includes 1-2 CNAs per unit, a mobility float aide, resource nurse as available, 24/7 RT, phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws, and physician and APP coverage on all shifts
  • ICU CRNs place all midlines; Alaris pumps currently being replaced by Baxter
  • Scrub color is navy
  • No on-call requirement
  • No time off permitted during holidays or Sturgis Bike Rally (early August)
  • Free parking available on site

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active SD or compact RN license
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required, with TNCC needed before arrival
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU experience (excluding travel) is strongly preferred
  • At least 1.5 years of ICU experience (excluding travel) may be considered with substantial non-ICU RN experience
  • Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
  • Prior travel assignment required; first-time travelers not accepted
  • Must be comfortable working 48 hours per week
  • Experience with complex ICU patients and critical care interventions, including ventilator management, hemodynamic lines, vasopressor drips, sedation, paralytics, and proning
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
  • Permanent staff must wait one year before returning as travelers
