Machine Shop Helper

Houston, TX
Pay: $15/hr
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
(Overtime & occasional weekends as needed)

Position Overview

Momentum Staffing is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Shop Helper to support daily production operations within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role assisting with material handling, fabrication support, and shop maintenance. Ideal candidates are reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn machine shop processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist machinists and production team with daily shop operations
  • Handle and prepare materials for cutting, fabrication, and finishing
  • Operate or learn to operate basic shop equipment (saws, routers, polishing tools)
  • Support polishing, finishing, and quality checks on completed parts
  • Assist with packaging and preparing finished products for shipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines at all times
  • Cross-train on equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and shop machinery

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or shop environment preferred
  • Experience using basic power tools (drills, saws, tape measure, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team setting
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must be open to ongoing or post-incident drug/alcohol testing if required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment (noise, dust, machinery)
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate industrial equipment

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic math skills required (measurements, tape measure reading)
  • Prior machine shop or manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
