Machine Shop Helper
Houston, TX
Pay: $15/hr
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
(Overtime & occasional weekends as needed)
Position Overview
Momentum Staffing is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Machine Shop Helper to support daily production operations within a manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on role assisting with material handling, fabrication support, and shop maintenance. Ideal candidates are reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn machine shop processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist machinists and production team with daily shop operations
- Handle and prepare materials for cutting, fabrication, and finishing
- Operate or learn to operate basic shop equipment (saws, routers, polishing tools)
- Support polishing, finishing, and quality checks on completed parts
- Assist with packaging and preparing finished products for shipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines at all times
- Cross-train on equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, and shop machinery
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or shop environment preferred
- Experience using basic power tools (drills, saws, tape measure, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team setting
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be open to ongoing or post-incident drug/alcohol testing if required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a shop environment (noise, dust, machinery)
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate industrial equipment
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic math skills required (measurements, tape measure reading)
- Prior machine shop or manufacturing experience is a plus, but not required
