PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing.

ABOUT THE JOB
As part of the Philanthropy & Community Affairs team, the Community Affairs Coordinator will be responsible for directly supporting department leadership with the coordination of all volunteer activities throughout the region. These efforts will include volunteer recruitment, training, stewardship, and acknowledgment of all external partners participating in engagement activities throughout PATH's permanent housing, interim housing, and scattered site programs. The primary function of this role is to build meaningful relationships with local corporate, faith, school, and celebrity partners to connect PATH participants with crucial resources designed to improve their quality of life both on the streets and in their new homes. The Community Affairs Coordinator will work collaboratively with our Associate Director and our larger Philanthropy and Community Affairs team to ensure the long- term sustainability and expansion of PATH's initiatives throughout the region.

Position Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Associate Director in the daily management of our in-kind partnerships and programs to serve the growing needs of participants.
  • Strategize and collaborate closely with program teams to determine and prioritize needs not covered by contracts and other budgets.
  • Work with the philanthropy and programmatic teams to identify opportunities and manage recruitment, retention and assignment of PATH one-day, short-term, and long-term volunteer projects.
  • Manage and outreach for in-kind donation pick-ups and drop offs (ex. hygiene items, clothing, Welcome Home kits etc.).
  • Manage, facilitate and develop donation partnerships, especially in-kind donor partnerships.
  • Establish and regularly update volunteer schedules related to programs.
  • Manage all volunteer inquiries related to programs.
  • Conduct strategic community outreach to educate stakeholders, engage volunteers, and create strategic partnerships.
  • Assist with managing the volunteer and donor database, Better Impact.
  • Evaluate donor and volunteer activities and collaborating with staff to ensure partnerships serve to meet the needs of clients.
  • Support the philanthropy team in creating and managing effective strategies and giving opportunities in the region.
  • Maintain volunteer management software to include new opportunities and track volunteer hours. Support the Associate Director with data tracking and quarterly reporting to the PATH Executive Board.
  • Support the Philanthropy team in creating and managing effective strategies and giving opportunities to increase fundraising in the region. Strategies include special events, direct mail, online giving, donor identification and cultivation.
  • Establish and strengthen long-term relationships with private sector influencers and donors in the community to build new partnerships and funding opportunities.
  • Work closely with Associate Director and on-site program staff to assess ongoing needs of PATH participants.
  • Collect and manage feedback from all parties involved in volunteer activities, including volunteers, staff, and community members through written reports, testimonials, and verbal comments.
  • Share feedback with site staff to acknowledge strengths, successes and to make improvements for future volunteer activities.
  • Support the creation and management of in-house special fundraisers and events and supporting community members with 3rd party events related to interim housing support and securing in-kind donations. These include holiday celebrations, food rescue, and more.
