We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. This is a long-term contract position offering an excellent opportunity to showcase your expertise in accounting and financial management. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles and processes, with a focus on reconciliations, reporting, and Government Contracting (Department of State).
Responsibilities:
• Perform detailed account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and adjustments.
• Conduct cash flow analysis and prepare comprehensive financial reports.
• Oversee contract closeout activities, ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines and requirements.
• Utilize QuickBooks Online to maintain and update financial data.
• Address and resolve accounting discrepancies, including cleanup of historical data from the past three years.
• Prepare and analyze bank reconciliations to ensure alignment with financial statements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and effective communication of financial results.
• Develop and implement procedures to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, with demonstrated expertise in managing financial data.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
• Experience in performing account and bank reconciliations with high attention to detail.
• Familiarity with state government contracts or commercial contract management processes.
• SOP development and audit preparation highly preferred.
• Proven ability to handle complex financial cleanup tasks and historical data reviews.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
