Job Description

As a Quality Inspector, you will determine and utilize appropriate inspection methods and instruments, such as micrometers, height gauges, air gauges, radius gauges, and calipers. You will perform in-process and final inspections of machined aerospace parts and assemblies, including simple to moderate layouts and setups on a surface plate. You will initiate nonconformance records and manage the disposition of parts that do not meet requirements. Striving for continuous improvement, you will recommend and support the implementation of process enhancements. Effective and professional communication with internal and external personnel is essential to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors, and negotiate resolutions for non-conforming parts. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on newly received goods, work-in-process, and final inspections of machined parts and assemblies.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering requirements and work instructions.
  • Document specific information regarding approvals and non-conforming parts.
  • Participate in problem-solving to identify re-work requirements.
  • Provide quality and/or manufacturing process training for manufacturing personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and tape measures.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, planning and engineering documents, quality standards, and customer specifications.
  • Advanced mathematical skills including operations with fractions and decimal equivalents.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Completion of assigned internal training for Level I Inspectors, with periodic retraining or recertification as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control, inspection, and quality assurance.
  • Familiarity with quality check and visual inspection processes.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Work Environment

The work environment involves exposure to excessive noise, requiring hearing protection, and regularly includes dust, smoke, mist, fumes, and vapors. Occasionally, you may experience extreme temperatures. The role involves working with hazardous equipment, including forklifts, hand tools, cranes, and other lifting devices, in a machine shop environment. Shifts vary by level: Level 1 works Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Level 2 works Friday to Sunday from 5 AM to 5 PM.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Commerce, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $26.00/hr.
